Now that we are getting into the thick of summertime activities, sunburn is something that you have to think about.

句子開頭的 now that 並沒有「現在」的意思,它可以翻譯成「既然」,有連接詞的功能。


now that = because now / since
不只可用在句首,亦可用在句子中間。

Ex:
Sunburn is something that you have to think about now that we are getting into the thick of summertime activities.


Another example:
1. Now that the car is here,
let's go ahead and put our things in the trunk.
 既然車子在這,我們先走並把所有我們的東西放在車尾行李箱吧!

2. I don't think I'll go watch the movie, now that I know the end of the story.
 既然我知道故事的結局,我不覺得我會去看那部電影。

3. Now that we've finished with dinner, we have to clean up the kitchen.
 既然我們已經結束晚餐,我們應該去清理廚房。

4. Now that Mary has graduated from college, she plans to look for a job.
 既然瑪莉已經從大學畢業,她計畫去找工作。

- sting 亦指心裡上的刺傷
- Those harsh words from the teacher really stung the boy.
 老師所說嚴厲的話真的刺傷這個男孩子的心。
