【Grammar Tip】

Sure, we could (all) do without the typhones and earthquakes and blood-sucking mosquitoes, but overall, we humans have a pretty fantastic home.

前半句的言下之意是說，我們當然不想要這些天然災害，
但總的來說，我們人類所處的環境算是不錯的了。
這種表達方式在這裡傳達出一種幽默的口吻。

do without (idom)
→ means：to handle or get along without something or someone

原句等同：we could survive or manage without the typhones and earthqakes and blood-sucking mosquitoes...

可以搭配can 使用 → can do without

1. My apartment is the right size and is located in a good neighborhood, but I could do without the noisy neighbors.

2. The food of the party was delicious and the music was lively, but I could have done without the silly games.
